Obinim, fetish priests don’t scare me — Nyansa Boakwa

Despite receiving many death threat messages and sent to court on numerous occasions for some of the topics he discusses on air, radio presenter, Wisdom Agodza, popularly known as Nyansa Boakwa says no pastor or fetish priest can stop him from airing his views.

According to Nyansa Boakwa, a radio presenter at Happy FM, he is not scared of what would happen to his life so far as he is telling the truth.

“I always get my facts right so I am never scared of anyone. When you do the right thing, you are not scared of anything. I have actually had more than 20 death threat messages but here I am doing great,” he told Showbiz last week.

Citing an example of one of the topics that became a big issue in Ghana, Nyansa Boakwa, a student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) said other presenters would have been scared to air a story on Bishop Daniel Obinim but he went ahead because he knew he had his information right.

“I broke a story of Bishop Daniel Obinim having an affair with his junior pastor’s wife. The story was all over the place and Hot FM picked it as well. During discussions on the topic on air, the man of God went to destroy equipment at the station because he wasn’t pleased with the revelation”.

“The same Bishop Obinim said he has given me AIDS and there was no way I was going to live for three days. Apart from Obinim, many fetish priests have sent death threat messages to me because I discussed their stories and I care less so far as I know what I am doing is right,” he noted.

Asked why he likes discussing spiritual things on his platform, Nyansa Boakwa who started his radio career at KYZZ 89.7 in Takoradi and worked with Fox FM (Kumasi), and Sena FM, noted that his Nsem Pii programme is not only on spiritual stuff but social issues as well.

According to him, he helped a young lady who had been missing for the past 18 years to find her mother. Again, Nyansa Boakwa said he has got many imposters arrested after posing as public figures to deceive “unsuspecting victims”.

“I interviewed a man who said some men had turned into snakes and had the power to bring them back to human beings. The man had printed calendars of himself and snakes around him and was making money out of Ghanaians. I got him arrested after I found out he was a fraudster,” he disclosed.

To Nyansa Boakwa, it would be wrong for anyone to think he is using ‘Juju’ to work because he is Christian and its doctrines abhor that.

“Perhaps, one of the things that makes me strong and daring all the time is the God I serve. I am not moved by threats because I know I serve a living God,” he added.

He has hosted the Nsem Pii programme for more than five years and says he is grateful to God for his ability to positively impact a lot of lives with it.

“ I also want to thank my producers because they have been fantastic and do a lot of research on every topic we discuss,” he added.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Agodza, the 34-year-old presenter whose dream is to make life comfortable for the voiceless through his programme doubles as an MC.
