Nsukwaw River doesn’t turn blood, ignore speculations – ER NADMO boss

The Eastern Regional Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Selasi Dewu has denied speculations that a river has turned bloody in Koforidua.

He said, speculations started Saturday that a river has turned into “blood” at Koforidua. A situation which Mr. Dewu said has caused fear and panic among residents of the area to the extent of run to save your life.

Granting interview on the development to Rrite FM’s Captain Adabugar on Monday morning, the regional NADMO Coordinator said, investigations are ongoing to get to the bottom of the issue.

According to him, preliminary investigations have revealed that a powdered chemical used in the production of tie and die fabrics was used to pollute the said river but not blood as have been speculated in the media.

In same regards, preliminary investigation by the police also revealed that the up-stream of the river has been diluted with dye by persons who produce tie and dye cloths.

He however, said suspects are helping the police in their investigations.

Residents of the New Juabeng Municipality of the Eastern Region were threw into a state of shock on Saturday 7 September as the Nsukwaw River flowing across the municipality had suddenly turned red.

Many residents who were trooping to the river side to catch a glimpse were assigning superstition for the change in colour of the popular river.
