Father of the late member of Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, Mr. Jonathan Tetteh Padi has described his son’s death as the will of God.
The 88-year-old in an interview with Rite News following the death of his son on Wednesday evening was convinced that God had a special purpose for calling his son into his bosom.
“Kwabla was my son and God alone knows why he has decided to call him at this time so I cannot complain,” he said.
The octogenarian who said he was only informed of the death at dawn on Thursday described his son as a benevolent individual who abundantly supported the family.
“He supported the entire family wholeheartedly and he was a major pillar to us,” Mr. Padi asserted.
Mr. Agyarko, 61, died on Wednesday, November 21 in the United States of America after a long illness.
He recently went to the States to seek medical care after his condition was stabilized at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
As a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Agarko has been the MP for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency since 2012, after he replaced the current Chief of Staff, Frema Opare as MP for the area.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo who visited the family house at Airport Hills in Accra Thursday morning for first-hand information on the passing of the Member of Parliament said, the NPP has lost an “asset.”
President Akufo-Addo cut short his official visit to the Eastern Region which starts Thursday morning to pass through Mr Agyarko’s house at Airport Hills at 10am.
Accompanying President Akufo-Addo to the house were ministers of state and NPP members.
The family confirmed the demise and said they received the information from the United States of America (USA) where Mr Agyarko was seeking medical care around 4pm on Wednesday, November 21.

Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremanteng Agyarko was a pharmacist, medical doctor, and a politician born on December 10, 1957, at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
His father was a merchant and United Party activist from Jamase, Ashanti Region and his mother was Jane Ladze Padi from Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region.
He holds a Bachelor in Pharmacy which he obtained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the year 1982.
The late Agyarko was a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Food and Drugs Authority during the era of former President Kufuor from 2001-2009.
He later became Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency on the tickets of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In Parliament, he’s served on the committees of Environment, Science and Technology Committee, chaired the Government Assurance Committee, and also served on the Health Committee.
He is the younger brother of the former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko.
The late Agyarko left behind a wife and seven children, five of which are quintuplets.
