Mushroom Has Potential To Create Jobs

By Prince Paul Amuzu:

The Eastern Regional Chairman of Mushroom Growers Association, Mr. Stephen Gyawu has underscored the potential mushroom creating more job opportunities if its relevance is pursued.

According to him, mushroom growing is another booming business that can create more jobs if given the needed attention in the agricultural sector as given to other types of crop farming.

Speaking in an interview with Krobea Asnte on the ‘Akuafo SeSen’ segment of the morning show, the Chairman noted that mushroom farming is another lucrative business which needs immediate recognition in the agricultural sector for expansion and the creation of jobs as they also employ people to work on their farm to curtail the menace of unemployment which has become a headache especially for the youth.

According to him, the mushroom farming business has not received any support or even the much needed recognition for the past years and every attempt to meet the current minister of Agric to register their problems or challenges facing them have proved futile so far.

He has therefore pleaded with the government to give them the necessary assistance by recognizing and investing in the mushroom farming business so that they can also expand the business and employ more people especially the youth.
