Moringa Farmers Calls for Gov’t Assistance

The President of Moringa Farmers Association in the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr Paul Yeboah has called on the government to assist them negotiate with Food and Drug Authority and Ghana Standard Authority to acquire certification and approval on some products made from moringa.

According to him, there are a lot of products like soap, oil, medicine that they have produced from moringa , which he said has been sent to center for Scientific Research in to plant and Herbal Medicine for trials since last year but has received no respond from them.

Mr. Yeboah Speaking to Rite news in an interview noted that they are awaiting the respond of the trials before it can be forwarded to FDA and Ghana Standard Authority.

According to Mr. Yeboah, they always export moringa to countries like US, South Africa, Switzerland etc to earn foreign exchange but they have not been permitted or have an approval on some product like soap, oil from moringa to be used in Ghana.

He has called on government to focus on moringa farming in the country because it is very lucrative and can serve as a high export commodity.
