MoFA Receives Donations from Private Sector Towards 2017 Farmers’ Day

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) yesterday received a GHc50, 000 cheque donation from UniBank Ghana, while an Agro Chemical Company, Rainbow Agroscience Company based in Tema donated 32 cartons of agro chemical towards the organisation of the 33rd National Farmers’ Day to be hosted in Kumasi Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Presenting the donation, Mr. Clifford Mettle, the Executive Director of UniBank Ghana said the company was proud to associate with farmers that prevail over all obstacles to contribute to the development of the country.

Mr. Clifford was of the hope that the donation would encourage farmers to continue to work for the betterment of the country.

Expressing gratitude to UniBank Ghana and Rainbow Agroscience Company for their donation, Deputy Minister, MoFA in charge of annual crops Dr. Sagre Bambangi said the Ministry, as a promoter of Agriculture in the country, was committed to the welfare of farmers, who have toiled throughout the year to cultivate food for the entire Ghanaian population.

Dr. Bambangi assured the donors that, their presentations would be used for the intended purpose, saying government recognizes their support towards the success of the celebration.

He noted that the occasion was to honour deserving farmers who have persistently worked to satisfy the food needs of Ghanaians as well creating employment opportunities.

Dr. Sagre Bambangi reiterated the need to recognise and celebrate farmers and appealed to corporate Ghana to step forward with their donations towards the honouring of farmers.
