MoFA in collaboration with GSS to conduct agriculture census for farmers

The Ministry of Food And Agriculture (MoFA) in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) is to conduct agriculture census for farmers all over the country.

According to the Eastern Regional statistician, Mr. Abeka Kwabena Ansah, there is an ongoing inauguration of Municipal, Metropolitan and the District management team for the conduct of the census programme which started  one 8th June through to 30th of June alongside training of the team members to prepare them for the main census in September this year to December. This was brought on the “Akuafo Si Sen” segment on Rite FM’s Morning ride.

Commenting on this, the deputy census coordinator who is an Agric economist, statistical researcher and information director for ministry of food and agriculture (MoFA) Mr. Sydney Okoe Pampoe Adoo also revealed that, the census has four stages which they have already put in place to ensure that the census is well conducted with low error margin.

He stated that, the regional management teams which has already been inaugurated in various region, comprises of the Regional Coordinating Director, Regional Director of Agriculture and the Regional Statistician coming together as a three member committee.

He mentioned that, the census will be done by visiting every house hold to know the number of people who does agriculture per house which will enable MoFA to implement their new policy which comprises sharing of tractors to farmers in districts. “We want to know the structure of agriculture in the country’’. He observed.
