MMDCEs Key In Championing 1-District-1 Factory Agenda-Hon Paul Teye

The Government of Ghana has successfully launched the much hipped 1- District- 1 Factory initiative last Friday at Ekumfi in the Central Region as fulfillment of its 2016 general election campaign promise.

According to Hon. Paul Teye, Assembly member for Sra Electoral area  in an interview with Rite Morning Ride has pointed out that, it is the incumbent on the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to champion the initiative of the government since they are the direct representatives of the central government at the grassroots.

“Government has brought the policy but to sustain it, the district chief executives must carry it onto themselves since they are the direct representative of the President in the local community,” he said.

Hon. Paul then added that, for the success of the work of the various MMDCE’s, there’s the need to involve their people as a team to plan factories that will be suitable for their district or municipality so as to avoid the repetition of similar factories across the country.

Meanwhile, Hon. Paul has stressed that land ownership in the Krobo enclave is now owned by individuals and families instead of chiefs, therefore, it will be difficult for chiefs in the area to leased lands to the government for the initiative unless on negotiation with the individuals or families, but urged that the government can use it power to acquire the lands from the individuals to implement the agenda since everyone will benefit from the project.

Hon. Paul Teye lauded the government for his initiative since it will “create more jobs, eliminate poverty, value addiction and other benefits,” he notified to Captain Adabugar,Host of the Morning Ride.
