Minister urged youth to venture into agriculture

The minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Fifi Kwetey has noted that the Agriculture sector remained the backbone of the Ghanaian economy and the involvement of the youth and women would change the fortunes of the sector for the better.

According to him, the importance of the youth and women in the development of the agriculture sector must not be under estimated because the future of the sector lied in their hands.

Speaking at the first national Agriculture summit held in Accra last wednesday, Mr. Kwetey said in a bid to attract the youth into the sector, his outfit was implementing youth friendly policies including the youth in Agriculture programme which aimed at motivating the youth to accept and appreciate farming and Food Production as commercial venture, there by taking up farming as a life time vocation.

Mr. Kwetey said to further boost the performance of Agriculture, Ghana need Youngsters and men entrepreneur commercial farmers to take of over the rapidly ageing farmers.
