Mango farmers at Kintapo in B/A are facing marketing challenges

As mango farmers in Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region complain bitterly to Rite FM of no market after harvesting their mangoes, the secretary for Kintapo mango farmers association in the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr. Samuel Nimo also revealed that mango farmers in Kintanpo are also facing the same situation of marketing.

During an interview with him on “Akuafo Si Sen” a segment on the morning Ride, Mr. Nimo stated that, at the beginning of the year, they had a truck to off load some mangoes from Kintapo to Adeso and also to ITFC a processing company in Tamale and that is their last dmajor supply they can recall leaving the rest of the mangoes are all dropping off the mango trees. He mourned.

He stressed that, it is never true they have had buyers and exported mangoes in Kintapo, initially Bomart, a fruit processing company came to their aid by purchasing some variety of the mangoes where the farmers had to transport it to them but unfortunately, the vehicle had an accident on the way but Bomart decided not to bare any cost to that which is also another issue on its’ own.

According to him, they have market women who purchase the mango at a whole sale price but these women change the size of the boxes for measuring every year and also want it to be measured in accordance with “their height”.

Mr. Nimo decided to find out why the fruit processing company in Adeso is refusing to come for their mangoes and he was told they do not have vehicles to come for the mangoes but to his out most surprise, he saw vehicles trooping in from Burkina Faso and La Cote D’voire to convey this same mangoes they cultivate and harvest here. “I think this is an act of wickedness”. He mourned.
