A 62-year-old man has ‘chopped’ off his penis and scrotum after mistaking them for rags, reports from the Dormaa Akwam in the Brong Ahafo Region indicates.
The wife of Opanin Kwadwo Agyei according to reports, found the man lying in a pool of blood with his scrotum and penis packaged in polythene bag by his side on his bed.
It is unclear what triggered the sexagenarian to commit the act as he claims he has no problems with anyone.
Wife of the Opanin Kwaku Agyei who confirmed the incident to Adom News said she has no problem with the husband neither is the husband mentally deranged therefore could not understand what might have pushed the father of four to injure himself.
According to her, she woke up early morning just for her to return home to see her husband lying on the bed in a pool of blood with his scrotum in a polythene bag.
The injured man who was struggling to speak after the act said he thought they were rugs.
He is now receiving treatment at the Dorma Ahenkoro Presbyterian hospital.
Opanin Kwaku Agyei speaking on Adom News said he was influenced by three devils in one night to take knife and slash off his genitals.
According to him, the doctors at the facility said they cannot stitch the genitals together and hence he has had to go without genitals.
Doctors have also requested for transfusion for him as well.
