Maintain Nov. 7 election date – CODEO

National Coordinator of Coalition of Domestic Elections Observers (CODEO) Albert Kofi Arhin is appealing to parliament to make November 7 a workable date for elections to be held in the country.

According to him, a plan to change the date from December 7 was unanimously agreed by the various political parties and, therefore, underscored the need for all stakeholders including parliament to ensure that they work outside their busy schedules to have it implemented.

“Parliament will need to stay a little longer to have the bill on elections to be held on November 7 passed. I don’t think parliament will sit and let us get into problems”, he said.

Speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, Mr. Arhin appealed to Ghanaians not to panic over the delays because with consensus building the issue could be resolved.

He indicated that Ghanaians and Electoral Commission (EC) should be concerned with the implementation of the Supreme Court’s ruling as well as working towards its calendar.CAR WASH ART-NEW

The Coordinator is optimistic that the November 7 date will work and reiterated the need for the country’s legislators to sacrifice in getting the bill passed to ensure that the elections are held without incidents.

Mr. Arhin however called for cooperation from stakeholders and also appealed to the EC despite its time constraints to work in accordance with the election calendar following the required processes of exhibition and implementing the court’s ruling.
