Maasi Partner Lower Manya Assembly To Train Women On Utilization Of Potato In Ghana

The head for the unit responsible for Women in Agriculture, Madam Hilda Huajda, at the Department of Agriculture in the Lower Manya Municipal Assembly has announced the collaborative effort of her unit and the Mobilizing Action Towards Agriculture Sector Improvement (MAASI) project of Rite 90.1 fm on December 29th 2015 to train women on January 14, 2016 at  Obelemanya, a suburb of Somanya.

Rite 90.1 and the Department of Agriculture at Lower Manya Assembly are all partners of the MAASI project for the past six months. This partnership has rendered the two partners the opportunity to come together and train women at Obelemanya, a potato producing community.

The theme for this upcoming workshop is utilization of potato by stakeholders in the potato value chain.

According to Miss Hilda Huadji, potato can be processed into many products such as, Potato Gari, potato Yoghurt , Potato Fufu, Potato banku, Potato Salad, Potato Flour and Biscuits, just to mention but a few. In addition she mentioned, that potato has lots of nutritional values of which when women learn how to convert potato into this end product will help even children to ensure a healthy living.

Miss Hilda assured all listeners of ‘Feed the Future Platform” that anyone who is interested in this training is warmly welcomed and will pay nothing to that effect.
