Le Roy returns to face Meteors

Rite Sports can confirm that, former Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy, is set to make an emotional return to Ghana tomorrow as he leads the U- 23 team of Congo to face the Black Meteors in a CAF U- 23 Championship qualifier at the Tamale Sports stadium on Saturday.

The Frenchman led the Black Stars to win bronze as hosts of Ghana 2008 and still yearns to complete an unfinished business with the senior national team one day, making this week’s visit more of a homecoming.

After being forced out of the Ghana job following the Stars’ failure to win gold as AFCON 2008 hosts, Leroy whose experience in the African terrain is without question, might want to prove a point with Congo’s Under – 23 team against the Meteors who are also under pressure to book their ticket to Brazil after two previous missed.

The Meteors thrashed the Liberians 7-1 back – to – back within a week, following a deceptive 2-0 first leg result.

The Ghanaian side, handled by veteran Coach Malik Jabir and Abdul Karim Zito, moved from Prampram to the M- Plaza Hotel in Accra yesterday to fine- tune towards Saturday’s assignment.

The Meteors, dominated by home- base players, will be joined by Cyprus – based Ebo Andoh and Isaac Honney from Thailand, who convinced Coach Jabir in previous games against Mozambique and Liberia.

Others players in camp include goalkeepers Eric Ofori Antwi and Richard Ofori, Emmanuel Nti Mensah, Tamimu Mutari, Baba Mensah Abdul Latif Anabila, Dauda Mohommed, Richard Gadzi, Kennedy Ashia and Godfred Asante.
