Kupualor Finally Gets the Nod as MCE

Municipal Chief Executive Nominee for the Yilo Krobo Municipal, Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor has been finally confirmed as MCE of the area. Mr. Kupualor who has already twice failed to meet the mandatory two thirds votes for confirmation, on Monday however polled 40 out of the total votes cast of 60 to sail through while 20 voted against him.

The new MCE on May 9 fell short of the two-thirds of the votes needed for his confirmation as the new MCE and again failed to make the mark in a second ballot ten days later.

The endorsement which was supervised by the deputy Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Baffuor John Appaih, was witnessed by the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Tetteh; MCE for Lower Manya Krobo, honourable Simon Tettey and the Presiding Member (PM) of Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Mr. Wisdom Appiasah who chaired the occasion.

Mr. Kupualor after his previous failed attempts, expressed optimism that though he was very disappointed in the results, he nevertheless hoped to be confirmed on the next scheduled date.

According to the Bye- Laws of the Assembly, the President’s nominee must poll at least two thirds (2/3) of the total number of the valid votes cast by the Honorable Members of the Assembly, a requirement Mr. Kupualor has finally met.
