Krobo Bride Price Too Expensive, Scares The Youth-CBN

Reverend Chris Baah Nartey, resident Minister for Kpong Bethel Presbyterian congregation has appealed to families and parents to consider dowries and bride prices charge on men who seek to marry their daughters.

Pastor Chris Baah said some families place high price on daughters making it expensive and scaring for the youth to marry.

As part of speakers at the recent organized marriage summit at Yilo Klo Heritage Council, the divine brand and equivocal pastor said most men are willing to marry but in their attempt meet “too expensive bride price” which discourages them from going ahead to marry.

He advised parents to erase the mindset that their daughters will not return to their aid after marriage.

“Families have it on mind that when their daughter marries, they will not come back to their families and so would charge expensive bride price. Reduce the bride price and items require for sons and daughters to marry.”

He continued that Krobo environs have their customs and also items they require but, as man you can plead with them and to reduce the cost.

He advised churches, pastors to educate the congregation on preparation towards marriage and also pleaded on men to treat their wives with respect and kindness.

  1. I completely disagree with this! What’s our list like? What about those who take cows? Don’t they marry? I think the advice should be to ALL Ghanaian families and not to only Krobo families. Let’s not damage the already bruised reputation of Krobo women pls
