Kotoko won’t assist striker Clottey in paying US$ 180,000 fine to Tunisian side Esperance

Asante Kotoko Operations Manager George Kennedy says the club has no intentions of contributing to help Emmanuel Clottey pay up a $180,000 fine placed on him by FIFA.

The Ghana striker has been slapped with the hefty fine for wrongfully terminating his contract with Tunisian club Esperance.

Clottey triggered a clause in the Bosman rule by claiming he had not been paid for over three months.

He later joined Asante Kotoko after cancelling his contract with Esperiance but FIFA ruled it was illegal and has thus handed the former Ghana Premier League Goal King a hefty $180,000 fine.

Kotoko who Clottey joined after leaving Esperance however say they are not concerned with the issue and will not be making any financial contribution towards helping the striker pay up the fine.’Kotoko has no intentions to help Emmanuel Clottey to pay this amount,’ Kennedy said.

‘This issue was already lingering on before he joined Kotoko so it doesn’t affect us.”
