Kolo Touré extends Liverpool stay

Liverpool Centre-back Kolo Touré has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Anfield for another 12 months, the club announced on Tuesday.

“Liverpool FC are pleased to announce Kolo Toure has signed an extension to his contract with the club,” the Reds stated on their official website.

The Côte d’Ivoire international, who joined the Merseyside outfit from Manchester City on a free in July 2013, ultimately decided to remain at the club after hinting at a summer move at the end of his previous contract.

“Liverpool is a great club for me to stay at. Liverpool is going to be massive. I love Premier League football and I played all my years here. And if I can finish here it would be great,” the 34-year-old said after putting pen to paper.

“My kids go to school here and they are half-English, and that is important as well,” the former Arsenal and City player added.

Kolo Touré made 21 appearances through all competitions for the Reds this season.
