Market women in the Koforidua Township have disclosed that, bad roads, the power crisis and unstable economy are affecting their businesses.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Madam Afia Danso, a cold store owner said, the power crisis is affecting her since her frozen foods get spoilt whenever there is a power cut.
She explained that sometimes her power goes off for more than three days and she is not in the position to acquire a generator because business is bad.
Madam Afia asserted that, is not necessary to join a long queue for voting come 2016 because she believes that the political leaders are not ready to help the citizens.
Another market woman who sells fresh tomatoes, Anti Serwa spoke about bad roads in the country as a result of which her wares tomatoes being transported to Koforidua gets spoilt.
“Most people wouldn’t purchase crushed tomatoes because they see it is unhygienic,” she said.
Other traders also complained about high transport fares and wished that after reduction in fuel prices, the charges would also go down but it remains the same.
They called on the Ghana Private Road Transport Union to review the fares.
