KLOMAGBI WANT NATREKU

Mr. Henking Adjase, Communications Director of Klomagbi, a pressure group in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency has reiterated their position and that of indigenes of Lower Manya Krobo that they are not relenting in their efforts to win back Natreku, the last electoral area in Akuse still being held by the Osudoku traditional area in the Greater Accra region.

Speaking on Rite FM’s political show, platform, Mr. Adjase questioned the reasoning in the Electoral Commission giving back the six out of the seven electoral areas in the bone of contention to Lower Manya while withholding Natreku. “What is the logic in relinquishing the six electoral areas when Natreku which is geographically located in the middle of the town, belongs to another area? Does this make sense?” he questioned.

Mr. Henken Adjase said no explanations have been given for this despite several letters and petitions to the Electoral Commission.

The seven electoral areas in Akuse have been a bone of contention between the Eastern and Greater Accra regions which ended before a court of jurisdiction after the EC re-designed them into the Greater Accra region.  Though the court ruled that those electoral areas be taken back to the Lower Manya municipality, Natreku still continue to remain in the fold of the Shai Osudoku area.

Mr. Adjase said his ambition and that of his pressure group is to bring all electoral areas designed to be under Lower Manya together for proper development. He said they were closely monitoring developments in the upcoming district assembly elections and will stage a revolt if Natreku is to vote alongside Shai Osudoku.

The former NDC chairman, Mr. Tetteh Sika, commending  the group for their sense of purpose, gave a historical background pointing to how many court cases Lower Manya has won in its bid to hold on to the seven electoral areas in Akuse. He cited courts cases spanning back to pre-independence Ghana.
