Japan has donated CFA 1.3 billion to Cameroon within the framework of the implementation of the Agricultural Markets Investment and Development Project (PIDMA), its Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development confirmed to APA on Wednesday.Already financed by the World Bank to the tune of CFA 50 billion, the project is intended to improve maize, sorghum and cassava production in Cameroon with a view to supplying the food industry.
With the Japanese grant, in addition to producing more for industries, cooperatives retained within the PIDMA will develop nutrition-related sub-projects.
In this perspective, it will be about introducing improved bio-fortified seeds in agricultural subsistence activities and improving the quality of nutrition of the population through the implementation of nutrition education strategies.
This will strengthen the implementation of the program launched last year.
