I’m Ready For CAF Veep Role — Nyantakyi

Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confirmed he has been penciled to be the next vice president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), but he must wait to go through the process of endorsement  by the Executive Committee on April 11.

Nyantakyi , in an interview with the Graphic Sports yesterday, said the new president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad, had spoken to him at length about his intention to put him up for endorsement as his vice president, an offer the GFA president said, he had accepted.

“Yes, the new CAF president, Ahmad has spoken to me at length about the issue and after careful consideration, I have given him my consent, so while it is true that I’m being considered, I must also stress that, the process is not that simple, as I have to get the endorsement of the CAF Executive Committee, and that can only happen on April 11.

“The president will have to nominate someone from the ExCo. It is, therefore, not a done deal yet as the ExCo could decide otherwise,” Nyantakyi, who had been re-elected to the CAF ExCo as well as a member of the Executive Board of football’s world governing body, FIFA, explained.

Asked if he was ready to take up that challenging role, Mr Nyantakyi answered in the affirmative, saying “ I am ready, have the experience,  the expertise and energy to serve football at that level.”
