I will die if Akufo-Addo doesn’t become President – Sir John

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie is very confident the flag bearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will win the 2016 general elections.

He said he fears the worst will happen to him if Nana Addo is not voted president of Ghana in 2016.

Sir John as he is popularly called explained that he is working tirelessly to ensure the leader of the NPP wins the elections.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is the only person to offer relief to Ghanaians.

“If Akufo Addo doesn’t become the next president of this country, something will happen to me…upon all these sacrifices… I will die,” he said.

The former NPP scribe said Ghanaians are clamouring for change as he believes Akufo Addo is the right person to bring into the country the change Ghana deserves.

Speaking on an Accra based radio station Tuesday, the former General Secretary stated that the problems Ghanaians are facing is a result of the bad choice they made in the 2012 general elections.

He said President Mahama has proven that truly he is indecisive as written in his book “My First Coup d’etat” and called on Ghanaians to show him the exit in 2016.

Mr Afriyie said the current agitations and strikes from the public sector workers indicate how badly the Mahama-led administration has failed in governing the country.

Akufo Addo’s leadership, he said will offer pragmatic solutions to the problems persisting in the country.

He insisted that “Nana Addo will save the nation from sinking”.

Reacting to media reports that Nana Addo has chosen former Chairman of the NPP Peter Mac Manu as his campaign manager for the 2016 presidential elections, Sir John said he will support anybody the flag bearer chooses to be the leader of his campaign team.

He stated that the unity and trust they have in the executives of the party will ensure that Akufo-Addo becomes the head of the state.

Sir John urged the rank and file of the NPP to support the party hierarchy to bring the needed change Ghanaians are looking for.
