I Provided Value For Money – Riki Tai

Aspiring Independent parliamentary candidate for the Lower Manya Krobo parliamentary seat in the Eastern region, Mr. Riki Tai has dispelled accusations that the constituency did not get value for money as far as projects awarded him were concerned.

Responding to the accusations on Rite FM’s political program, ‘Platform’ on Monday, Chawa as he is popularly known among his circle of friends, told host Owuraku Asamoah that he satisfactorily and efficiently executed all projects awarded him, particularly during the tenure of the former Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Tetteh Agbo as well as current MCE, honourable Daniel Acolatse.

Citing one project to buttress his point, the contractor cum politician who hesitated speaking on the issues, nevertheless cited his renovation of the official residence of the current MCE, honourable Daniel Acolatse as one of his high points in the successful execution of a project.

He also rubbished suspicions that he unduly benefitted from the project which was allegedly ‘overpriced’ while maintaining that the assembly did due diligence in scrutinizing the cost of all projects that came its way.

Mr. Tai who was speaking on a myriad of issues concerning his political aspirations as well as his chances in the November polls, also dismissed allegations that he held a dual citizenship. Chawa who was born and bred in Odumase-Krobo stressed that he was Ghanaian by birth having spent the chunk of his young life in the constituency.

The former National Democratic Congress stalwart who missed out on his party chairmanship bid to fellow contender, Walter Homenu, denied ever possessing any party card, stating that he lost the chairmanship race on unfair grounds.

On his chances towards the parliamentary polls in December, Riki who was beaming with confidence maintained that he was bound against all odds to win the contest. He has promised a lot of developmental projects such as good roads, improved telecommunication network in the constituency, portable water as well as the development of markets in Lower Manya Krobo.

He also promised to address the nagging issue of youth unemployment in the constituency as well as the provision of more toilet facilities.

Mr. Tai while cautiously admitting that members of parliament did not directly undertake developmental projects, nevertheless stressed that ‘vibrant MPs’ were struggling for developmental projects for their constituents.
