Hearts of Oak off to Tunisia Wednesday

Accra Hearts of Oak will depart from Accra Wednesday evening for the Tunisian capital of Tunis, for their CAF Confederations Cup play-off match against Esperance.

Public Relations Officer of the club confirmed to Kasapa Sports Tuesday, adding the team is expected to arrive in Accra tomorrow from their Akosombo base ahead of the travel.

A team of players and management members as well as an accompanying official from the Ghana Football Association are expected to make the trip.

Hearts last won a major continental trophy 15 years ago at the expense of the Tunisians in a Champions League final, and would rekindle the rivalry when the first leg of the play-offs is played in Tunis this weekend.

A comfortable win away from home will make a reenactment of the 2000 victory a comfortable cruise.

There is so much at stake including but not limited to pride, bragging rights, supremacy and a chance into the money stages of the competition.

A nerve-wrecking encounter, officials of the Ghanaian club say discipline would be central to a decent output over the two legs.

With the dynamics of the 2000 feat shades different from the existing structures, Hearts would look to its current team of young players to get the job done. With an exceptionally brilliant run in the lead up to this stage, they would seek for motivation from a 15 year trophy-less continental campaign to edge past the North African side.
