Gov’t urged to protect the private sector

The managing director of Borrow s Ghana Limited is calling on the government to protect the private sector if it is calling for private investment. Mr. Maxwell Comey was speaking at a business forum organized by the Kenya mission to Ghana in partnership with the ministry of foreign affairs and regional integration, at the Accra International  Conference Centre.

Mr. Maxwell lamented that, government is always calling for private investment and at the end of the day when they come government leaves them alone. The worried private businessman noted that, land acquisition is a very big problem for investors who wants to invest into agriculture and other sectors in Ghana.

If we are talking about land and agriculture today, what is the role of government, he questioned. Adding that, government should put up concrete, visible and practical protection measures to protect private investors.

Mr Comey emphasized that, government should let private investors feel individually that they are protected. It should not be something that, one needs to google over the internet to see it, it must be visible, he concluded.
