Government Urged To Make More Budgetary Allocations For Mushroom Production

The chairman of the Eastern Region Mushroom Growers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Mr. Stephen Gyawu has made a passionate call to the government to include mushroom farmers when making budgetary allocations to the agriculture sector.

According to Mr. Gyawu who spoke to rite FM news in an interview, this will enable them to get capital to buy farm inputs and other materials to boost their calories as far as mushroom production in the country is concerned.

Mr. Gyawu expressed anger over alleged non-inclusive of farmers’ grooms and agriculture inputs in the budget submitted by the district assemblies. He noted that government has never to their aid interims financial support and input but only NGOs who used to support them interims of sanitization programmers to upgrade their skills.

He added that the Association has trained about 40 people in mushroom production; meanwhile, there is no financial support from the government to help them assist these young entrepreneurs. According to him, this will create employment opportunities if government will invest must more in mushroom production.
