GOVERNMENT URGED TO FOCUS ITS ATTENTION ON MUSHROOM PRODUCTION

The President of Mushroom Growers Association of Ghana, Mr. Theophilus Kwartey has noted that government has turned its attention from mushroom production and only focus other crops.

He realized that mushroom have medical benefit and economic potentials which generate income to the country and stabilize the economy, but it unfortunately the sector has not seen any support from the ministry of food and agriculture and the government as well.

Mr. Kwartey speaking to Rite news in an interview said mushroom cultivation can do more than cocoa production adding that mushroom is the fasters fastest growing crops which  can be harvested numerously in the year than cocoa and finally generate income and job.

He said the previous farmer day celebration which serves as a platform to honor farmers has not reorganize mushroom farmers and the good works that they are doing in the country.

According to him, countries like China, Holland, Poland and Zimbabwe have retained their economy through mushroom production adding that, Ghana as a country can also promote the sector to enhance the economy.
