A gory accident which occurred on Thursday morning on the Odumase-Asesewa road in the Eastern region has claimed the lives of four passengers. The accident which involved a Hyundai with registration number GT 3987 Y which was heading towards Odumase from Asesewa collided head-on with a tipper truck with registration number GT 7763-17.
The Hyundai which was occupied by the four deceased passengers and fully loaded with fresh maize was involved in the head-on collision with the Tipper Truck belonging to the limestone quarrying site at Odugblase in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern region.
The driver and a female passenger died on the spot whereas the driver’s mate and another female passenger died at the St Martin’s De Porrese Hospital at Agormanya.
The accident according to an eyewitness occurred after the truck veered off its lane upon negotiating a sharp curve, onto the opposite lane and collided with the Hyundai.
The remains of the deceased according to the police have been deposited at the Atua Government and St. Martin’s De Porres Hospitals respectively pending police report.
The driver of the tipper truck and his mates, according to sources are said to have escaped unhurt and remain at large.
