Ghanaian Must Eat More Eggs

The Ghana National Poultry Farmers Association is to embark on a campaign to whip up the public consumption of eggs.

According to the Association the negative perception about egg consumption of eggs on human health has deterred many members of the public from taking advantage of the nutritional values of eggs.

It said the country’s public consumption of eggs which is 12 per persons per annum was not encouraging and was depriving Ghanaians of some nutritional needs of health growth.

In an interview with Mr Oppong Adjei on the Rite FM’ Morning Ride, he said Ghanaians had the perception that too much intake of eggs can adversely affect their health but he debunked that perception.  He said egg contains the needed nutrient that helps the growth of an individual and so its consumption even in large quantities can help the body in a positive way adding that egg contains almost all the nutrients needed by the body.

This campaign marked the celebration of the World Eggs Day in Accra last Friday.

He later advised the general public to do away with that rumor and consume eggs more because it has no negative impact on their health but will rather give them the needed nutrient.
