President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa has stated, Ghana has the unique potentials to feed her growing population and leave the raw materials to the processing industries, achieve food security and compete successfully as a leading supplier to neighbouring African countries.
The president addressing the durbar at the annual Ngmayem Festival of Manya Krobo Traditional Area stated that, through their flagship program “planting for food and job”, they have ensured the provision to improve seeds.
The supply of subsidized fertilizers, employment of dedicated extension services, marketing strategy and introduction of E-Agriculture and industry. According to the President, 227 hectares of land were cultivated in the major season while 179 hectares for the minor season in Manya Krobo.
The country’s first gentleman said there is anticipation of a bumper harvest because the National Buffer Stock Company Limited was resourced to provide ready market to farm produce. This according to the President will ensure that the minimum guaranteed prices to make farming a viable venture.
He further urged all Ghanaians to see farmers as most important people in the country since they contribute to the country’s economy and food security.
