GFA dismiss reports of interference in Appiah appointment

Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie has denied reports that incoming head coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah was imposed by the ruling government.

Appiah has returned for a second stint with the national team following a brief stint with Sudanese side Al Khartoum.

In the run up to his appointment reports were rife that the GFA preferred an expatriate take over from Avram Grant but were coerced to appoint Appiah against their will.

“When it comes to the FA of course we cannot say we will work without listening to advice.

“We take advice from all quarters including the media.

“This does not mean that we were put under any pressure by anybody,”

The GFA have indicated that they will hold a meeting with Appiah to discuss targets and objectives set for him.
