GES Laud’s Rite FM for District Education Observer Project

The Eastern Regional unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has lauded Rite FM for their keen interest in promoting education in the various districts especially the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern regional directorate of the Ghana Education Office Mr. Acheampong Asiedu made the commendation in an interview with Rite News Desk at the launch of the District Education Observer Project II in the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Somanya.

According to him, Journalism goes beyond merely reporting on societal problems but taking a step further in addressing those needs.

“Journalism goes beyond merely reporting the problems confronting society but identifying these problems and finding possible solutions to them,” he asserted.

According to him, Rite FM has set the agenda to promote education in the Yilo Krobo Municipality along its regular programmes. This he indicated was a laudable step and thus called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the project.

The District Education Observer Project (DEOP) was first implemented by Rite FM in the 2014/15 academic year to help improve upon the performance of 10 low performing school in the Basic Education Certificate Education, BECE in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The first project ended by improving the performance of nine (9) out of the ten selected schools from 0% to 80.92% with 43.8% as the least performance in the Municipality now.

Rite FM officially launched the DEOP II on Wednesday to extend the project to other 10 low performing schools in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.

The second phase is supported by STAR-GHANA and funded by UKaid, European Union and DANIDA
