Fulani Invasion Leaves Farmers Of Apekusu Terrified

As the raging Fulani controversies continue to hit the roofs with seemingly no end in sight yet, residents of Apekusu in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region are the latest to have cause to fear for their lives. This is because the nomads have reportedly invaded their farms. This is not all; the indigenes also fear for their lives.

In an interview with the Assembly member of Apekusu, Mr. Ofori Nyarko Benjamin, he lamented to Rite news that Fulani herdsmen and their cattle have invaded their town and farms. The development he added has left the indigenes, particularly farmers terrified to go to their farms for fear of being attacked and killed by the Fulani herdsmen.

The assemblyman, Mr. Ofori Nyarko Benjamin, cited an example of a farmer who ran away for his life, adding that the issue is getting out of hand. Nevertheless, Mr. Nyarko added that they have trust in the security agencies and know that they will help them to deal with the menace.

On the issue that some of the cattle could belong to ‘big men’ in society and they could therefore be incurring the wrath of those men, the assemblyman vehemently dismissed that. To him, what he and his people are craving for is to see the back of the nomads and their cattle.

According to the Assembly member, the activities of the Fulani herdsmen as reported from Agogo and other parts of the country told of what the Fulanis are capable of doing and he and his people will not wait for that to happen. He noted that the people of Apekusu are not ready for cattle rearing which is why they won’t tolerate the nomads.
