Focus on The Agric Sector, 40 Years Development Plan is Unnecessary – Gov’t Urged

The Director of Agronomid Set Organisation, an Agric Student  Association at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology, Mr. David Asiamah has describe the implementation of the 40year National Development Plan as  unnecessary as far as agriculture is concern in the country.

According to him, the government as matter of urgency needs to address the challenges facing the Agric sector now   than to rely on the development plan in the subsequent years to modernize the sector.

Recently an Organisation called National Development Planning Commission came out with a 40 year national development plan. The lunch ceremony was held at Accra last week and expected to be implemented as a framework to run the country in the next 40 years.

Mr Asiamah assessing the development plan in an interview with Rite news said, the plan is laudable but, what the government needs to focus on now is to fight poverty and hunger in the country.

He has therefore entreated government to make provision like farm inputs to farmers to produce more food to feed the country in the next 40 years

Mr Asiamah noted that issues of hunger and poverty is very vibrant therefore government have to tackle with all seriousness.

He realized that, the population in the country keeps rising and there is the need to produce more food to feed them.
