Two children were rescued by the Suhum Police Command yesterday from a fetish priest by name Togbui who operates at Nankase in the Eastern Region.
Confirming the incident on Rite FM News, the deputy public relation officer for the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargent Gideon Boateng said they had information that those two children, a nine year old boy and a thirteen (13) year old girl, suspecting to be having an evil spirit were detained in the room of a fetish priest and the police upon a tip off arrested the man and rescued the children.
He mentioned that, the children were sent to the fetish priest by their own parents with the intension of having them cured by the fetish priest.
He noted that it is against the law of the nation to imprison someone without the knowledge of police because they are entitled to imprison not a private person and that was why they were found guilty of the law adding that four people were arrested together with the fetish priest reminded by Koforidua High Court on Monday.
Sargent Boateng therefore advised the general public to informed the police about any unlawful act within their communities, urging them not to take the law into their own hands
