Feed and Clothe the Needy: Beneficiaries Express Gratitude to Rite FM (Photos)

The curtain has winded down on the Rite FM Feed and Clothe the Needy project that took place at Kpong Ahodwo Riverside on Easter Monday.

Hundreds of beneficiaries, most of whom were the less privileged in society, headed back to their homes with a smile on their faces, a gift in their hands and full stomachs as the radio station treated them to a lavish event.

It was also a festival of exciting performances as entertainers took turns to thrill the patrons, most of whom were impoverished members of society.

The well-attended event was supported by volunteers from various sections of the society who assisted the staff of the station to dish out hot meals and drinks.

The event received massive support from partners of Rite FM and other benevolent organizations who donated towards the annual event.

Rite FM’s Feed and Clothe the Needy is one of the radio station’s corporate social responsibility events that has been running for the past five years and the station thought there was no better time to show love to some of the needy in society than the Easter period.

A number of kind hearted individuals, organizations and institutions such as the Agape House Church contributed in cash and kind towards the success of the event. Obviously, beneficiaries of the gesture expressed to Rite news how excited and connected to society they felt following the station’s visit to the area to celebrate Easter with them.

One of such beneficiaries, Madam Monica Akpabli echoed the sentiments of many of the beneficiaries when she thanked Rite FM for the event and asked other stakeholders to emulate the gesture.

Assembly member for Kpong Ahudzo, Mr. Raymond Gorsu who dedicated the entire day to assisting in the organization of the project, rated Rite FM highly for the success of the event and commended the station for the kind gesture towards his constituents.

‘If I’m a teacher, I’ll give Rite FM 99% for the overwhelming success of the programme,’ he noted. He nevertheless called on benevolent individuals, organizations and stakeholders for this event.

Health professionals from the Atua Government Hospital also screened beneficiaries for various diseases including blood pressure. Solomon Ohene Djaba, Municipal Disease Control Officer at the Atua government hospital, led a team of medical personnel from the hospital to screen beneficiaries for various ailments. He also took opportunity of the event to educate the beneficiaries on the need for periodic medical check-ups. Mr. Djaba also took the opportunity to prompt the gathering on the outbreak of the Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis, CSM in some parts of the country including Lower Manya Krobo.

Also, the team focused on educating the public on the dangers of Buruli Ulcer, symptoms and preventions.

Also available to lend a helping hand were individuals and groups who showed up to assist the organizers to feed and clothe the needy in this society.

As part of the highlights of the event, some members of the community including kids and the elderly were fed to meals and drinks. Staff of the station also spent time interacting with members of the community.

Officials of the Agape House Church which partnered Rite FM in this venture equally donated items including clothing, shoes and bags to men, women and children as part of their effort to clothe the needy. Officials of the church on behalf of the institution and Rite FM presented the items to the community who received them with glee and excitement.

The items were presented in the hope that it will go a long way to help those who actually need them.

Previous editions of the event had seen the station feeding and clothing some communities such as Akate, Kudikope, Oborpah Gyakiti and Akorley all in the eastern region.

Members of the Agape House Chapel said they were impressed with the event and the show of goodwill from the organizers. According to them, these indeed made the people of the area happy, insisting that a lot of people also gave their lives to Christ through the word of God which they shared with them while hoping that the program would be maintained and held each year.
