Farmers Urged to Unite To Fight For Pension Scheme

By Austin Ofori Addo:

President of the Concerned Farmers Association, Nana Opambour Bonsu Boateng has urged farmers in the country to unite to fight for what belongs to them, specifically the pension scheme. This he adds is to help guarantee a safe and secure future for them after they have retired from farming.

Nana Opambour who made the call on the Rite Morning Ride, noted that Ghanaian farmers without doubt need a pension scheme, noting however that if this aim is to be achieved, then unity should be the number one priority of the farmers instead of the syndrome of depending on the government.

Comparing his call for farmers insurance scheme to that of civil servants, he maintained that insurance scheme for civil servants continues to face challenges and farmers can only implement a successful scheme if they are united.

According to the president of the Concerned Farmers, now is the time to implement the much talked about one Ghana Cedi Project since there is no proper policy in place for Ghanaian farmers.

Nana Opambuor also compared his call to a country like America which runs a farmers insurance policy that is not controlled by the government but by the farmers themselves. He was therefore positive that local farmers can do same with the little help from government.
