Farmers urged to fight against GMO

Issues on the adaptation of Genetically Modify Organism (GMO) in Ghana have been on the airwaves for sometimes now with views from the various associations calling on the government not to consider the adaptation of GMO into the country.

Latest to join the call against the introduction of the GMOs is Nene Terkpertey Agblazee I who happens to be the chairman for the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishers (GNAFF). Speaking on the Agric Forum on Rite FM last Saturday, Nene Tekpertey explained that Farmers should rise up and join food sovereignty Ghana to fight against the adaptation of the GMO seeds.

Nene Terkpertey said it is unfortunate that some judges who know the truth continue to rule on issues that have concrete evidence like the ruling on the injunction filed on the GMO.

He noted that those calling for the GMOs seeds don’t even consume them because they are aware of its adverse health implications on the human body.

Meanwhile the President for Vegetable Growers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Mr. Joseph Tonoto has also condemned the importation of GMO seeds which he said will make the Ghanaian farmer poorer.
