Farmers Encouraged To Cultivate Soya Beans

Mr. Kaba Atanga, a soya bean farmer in Navrongo in the Upper East Region has encouraged farmers especially in the three Northern Regions to adopt the cultivation of soya beans. This according to him, is due to the fact that soya beans has a great potential of reducing poverty in the country among farmers who adopt its cultivation.

Mr. Atanga observed that aside its potential to reduce poverty; it is also suitable for every soil type, adding that it sometimes has the capacity to withstand pest attacks, diseases and bad weather conditions.

Mr. Atanga who was speaking to Rite news in an interview further urged the farmers to go into soya bean farming since it can improve their standards of living due to its lucrative values.  Using the case of farmers in the Upper East region as an example, he noted that the introduction of the crop to farmers in Navrongo had improved their income levels and subsequently improved their standards of living.
