Extension Officers To Get Motor Bikes And Vehicles Through IESC Project

Mr. Samuel Aku Kelly, a member of the International Executive Service Corporation, IESC has been speaking to Rite FM about a project they are undertaking to improve the lot of extension officers in some districts in the catchment area.

The districts which include Yilo Krobo, lower manya, Asuogyaman among other neighbouring districts is funded by the USAID and is in collaboration with the Ministry Of Food And Agriculture, MOFA to know what the farmers need in other to provide them in order to meet their respective demands.

Mr. Kelly who was speaking on Rite FM’s Agric Forum with Krobea Asante revealed that the extension services in Ghana lack many logistic to execute their duties. This according to him includes such logistics as motor bikes and vehicles to visit the farmers in their various farms to educate them.

In view of this, the Ghana government in collaboration with the Canadian International Government Agency, CIDA and IESC has joined hands to provide motor bikes and vehicles to the extension officers to visit the farmers, provide the much needed assistance as well as to offer the necessary education needed to boost the agricultural sector.
