Enforce bye-laws to check indiscipline-stakeholders charged

Stakeholders, Traditional rulers and Opinion leaders have been charged to enforce bye-laws in their various communities to check indiscipline among children because the rate of indiscipline is getting out of hand.

Mr. James Awumey, the Director of the commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for Krobo Municipality made this strong charge on Rite FM’s morning Ride programme.

He charged the authorities to reinforce redundant bye-laws in their communities to check the growing rate of indiscipline in the society. He said that the reinforcement should be done in a gradual process to achieve a better results.

The Ombudsman director stated that laws on hotel and tourism do not allow minors to be at night clubs and drinking spots but the law is somehow not enforced, thus, minors are seen at hotels, drinking bars and night clubs at odd hours. “What is preventing us from enforcing these laws, it is up to us the law makers to enforce it” he concluded.

Participating on the same programme, a former presiding member (PM) and a teacher, Rita Awaitey added that some communities are not able to enforce their own bye-laws because of politics and blame game. “We are politicizing everything”. She lamented.
