Eastern Region Set for 2017 Farmer’s Day Celebrations – Crentsil

The Eastern Regional Director for Agric, Mr. Henry Crentsil has given a strong indication that the region is well set for the celebration of the 2017 Famers’ Day.

The Eastern region will on Wednesday together with the Brong Ahafo Region take their turns to exhibit and showcase their Agric products and cultural values simultaneously at the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi which hosts the 2017 National Farmers’ Day celebrations.

Mr. Crentsil who commended the agric values of the Eastern region described the region as ‘versatile.’

“The Eastern Region is a vegetation area, a land very versatile to accommodate any type of farming and that is why the Eastern Region provides varieties of farm produce which we are going to showcase on Wednesday in Kumasi including our cultural heritage which the land is blessed with,” he said.

This year’s national Farmers’ day, the 33rd edition is scheduled for Kumasi in recognition of the vital role farmers and fishers play in the economy especially the highly commendable output of farmers and fishermen.

The day is celebrated to motivate them to produce more.

Speaking in an interview with Captain Adabugar, host of the Rite Morning Ride to highlight on the preparations put in place so far as far as celebrations of the 2017 Farmers’ Day in the region is concerned; the director said the region is well prepared to host the event.

“The region is well prepared to acknowledge its farmers handsomely for the marvelous job they are doing to feed the region and beyond and expectations for this year’s farmers’ day are very great because of the Agric fairs associated with it,” he asserted.

The theme for this year’s farmers day is ‘Farming for Food and Jobs’
