Drivers Urged to Drive Carefully at Night

The Eastern Regional Manager of National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Mr.Akwasi Yirenkyi has urged drivers who travel at night to be extremely cautious and travel at safe speed.

He said this will allow them to stop in case of any emergency on the road to avoid accident.

He noted that most drivers ignore road signs at night and decide to drive at a speed that they want, adding that it is a bad attitude that has been killing Ghanaians.

Speaking on the Rite FM’s Drive Alive Program last Friday, Mr.Yirenkyi cautioned drivers to try their possible best to go at the appropriate speed at night because it will help reduce down the avoidable accident that occur at night, stating that about eighty (80) percent of road accident in the night is due to over speeding and avoidance of road sign on the part of drivers.

He has therefore called on all the drivers’ unions to raise the standard of sensitization and education at programs they offer to their members.
