Drivers Angry Over DVLA Move on Issuance of New Driver’s Licenses

Some angry drivers in the Yilo Krobo municipality have expressed their dissatisfaction over the move by Driver Vehicle License Authority refusal to issue driver’s license to drivers who have not been trained in an accredited driving school.

According to them, driver’s mates gain more experience while they are being trained for a minimum of three (3) years while those who attend driving schools just spend three (3) months to learn driving.

Some drivers at the Somanya lorry station speaking to Rite FM on the “Drive Alive” programme said they are even more experienced than those who claim they have been to the driving schools. They did not agree with the DVLA that, when a person has not being trained in the driving school, he or she cannot obtain driver’s license.

According to them, most drivers who acquire experience and skills from the driving school cannot even fix their lorry tyres after it is burst and alleged that, these same drivers are the careless drivers who causes accident on our roads.

They noted that, some of the drivers may not have any background on how to use computers when they are under training but that does not mean that, they cannot drive.
