DOVVSU to rescue girls tagged witches at Bomase in Eastern Region

The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) says it will rescue girls at BOmase in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region being assaulted by self-styled pastor who has tagged them witches, forcing them to drop out of school.

Acting coordinator of DOVVSU, ACP Habiba Twumasi told Joy News she is putting measures in place to rescue the girls.

The ‘pastor’ has accused the girls of killing residents there.

Founder of the school, Mary Agettor says she has taken custody of the girl who was beaten badly by the pastor after she rejected an instruction from him to confess as a witch.

The pastor believed to be in his twenties is said to have fled the town when Joy News got word of his atrocious act and went to town with the story.

Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yaw Nketia-Yeboah says they have intensified efforts towards arresting the pastor.

“Our findings confirmed what the initial report by the local police that the pastor was no longer in the town. He absconded upon seeing the media presence in the village and has not been found.

“He was a resident in a village called Subrimu and police and members of regional DOVVSU went there but he was not found”, he added.

ASP Nketia-Yeboah indicated that their investigations have been complicated because parents of the victims are not allowing the police to interview them.
