Don’t Trust Political Promises On Your Human Rights To Safe Water And Sanitation

 

Though law makers have a role to play towards provisions of safe water, sanitation and hygiene for the Ghanaian citizens, it must not capitalize on its importance and ability to sell when used as campaign promises.

In a panel discussion with Ambassadors of the group, Drink Safe Water, convenor Krobea Asante has condemned with impunity, “they make politics with safe water, sanitation and hygiene which in 2010, was agreed by the United Nations as Basic Human Rights.

Krobea Asante who was a discussant on the Rite Morning Ride with host Captain Adabugar, quoted Hosea 4:1 and mentioned that it was true revelation of the deceit and whole truth not been told to the people.

“Why must we make waste here and wait for government funds to clean it when whoever is making filth is infringing on someone’s Human Rights; Politicians must not be left to take care of an important right such as the right to safe water and sanitation,” Mr. Krobea Asante added.

He has asked citizens to consider measures to stop free range disposal in all forms to attain goal 6 of Sustainable Development Goals.

Mrs. Hilda Huaji, an Exclusive member of the group opined that chiefs and opinion leaders take charge.

She also called for attitudinal change.

Mr. Richard Dankwah, Research and planning coordinator said, if communities don’t change attitude, the canker will be a tough one to do.

He encouraged that, every Ghanaian should begin to separate filth from our surroundings, a healthy people will build a wealthy nation.
