Farmers are still calling on government to release the subcidized fertilizer meant for the major farming season, adding his voice to the call, Mr.Isaac Quarshie Matey a farmer at Afienya in the Greater Accra region has pleaded with government to release urgently to save farmers a disastrous harvest next year.
Speaking on the ‘’Akuafo Si Sen’’ segment on Rite fm s morning Ride he said the delay has compelled some farmers who are tired of waiting to purchase the costly fertilizers sold on the market and farmers who can’t afford still await government till now.
Touching on other challenges, he mentioned poor marketing system for farm produce in the country. He added farmers are also compelled to sell their mangoes and other produce at cheaper prices to facilitate quick sale as against high cost of chemical input, indicating this always leaves farmers with a peanut at the end of harvest.
