The 2012 parliamentary N.P.P candidate for Ningo Prampram has bemoaned how
agriculture has been decentralize to the local level, now department of agriculture
without funding, he also questioned how it’s going to benefit the local farmers.
Hon. Sylvester Tetteh speaking in an interview on Agric Forum on Rite FM
question how the assemblies are going to fund the various departments of
agriculture at the level.
“How much is allocated in the budget for specific issues like irrigation, farm inputs
and training for our farmers’’, he questioned.
He noted that the central government can decentralize agriculture but the assembly
would sit down waiting for funding, the funding which is key is not readily
available, he added.
“It is good to decentralize but you decentralize with funding for them to supervise
or take a critical decision as to which areas they should look at he stated.
