Commercial drivers plying Aburi-Nsawam want road reconstructed

The Nsawam Drivers Union in the eastern region of Ghana has called on the government to reconstruct the road from Aburi to Nsawam.

Some of the drivers who made the call in an interview with Rite FM news said it is regrettable that successive governments have neglected the people of the area as if they were not part of Ghana.

According to them, the road was constructed during the reign of the first President of Ghana: Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and since then, no government in power has come to reconstruct it.

They noted that there are lots of potholes on the road which oftentimes causes their cars to break down.

“A journey which should take less than two hours now takes four hours in most cases in the rainy season” said the drivers.

According to them, there have been several appeals to the district assembly to come to their aid but no steps have been taken to rectify the situation.
